The company is headquartered in Paris and enhances urban mobility with advanced solutions in parking, transport, and mobile services. Over 7 million people globally (consumers and businesses) use the Flowbird’s parking app to find and pay for parking.

Flowbird, which processes 350 million plus payment transactions every year, chose Hyperswitch as the strategic partner for card not present payments for building efficiency in the payment unit, while at the same time being able to provide a very seamless payment experience for users.

Onboarding multiple city authorities and connecting to bank acquirers

The nature of business demands Flowbird parking app to connect with the acquirer-of-choice for each city authority. This brings in a need to support integrations with a diverse set of payment processors and acquirers across the world.

Hence, the ability to be able to directly connect with numerous Bank Acquirers with minimal development effort is one of the primary objectives of Flowbird. Hyperswitch was able to quickly turnaround any acquirer or payment processor integration and act as an extended payment team, which enabled Flowbird to focus on the core business.

With Hyperswitch Control Center, onboarding and managing hundreds of city authorities with associated configurations was a seamless experience. At the same time, restricting access to data and sensitive customer information was possible by managing access profiles for every use - be it Flowbird’s app team operating across cities or Flowbird’s customer support operating for specific cities.

Improve payment experience for users and offer more payment methods

With Hyperswitch, Flowbird was able to migrate from a Web based to a Native Payment experience for all Android and iOS app users.

And this provided more opportunities to reduce the number of steps in the customer payment journey and eliminate web redirections. For a parking use case which is highly recurring in nature, this was a great lever to improve the customer experience.

Hyperswitch also enabled Flowbird to quickly start offering the most popular payment methods - ApplePay, GooglePay and Samsung Pay to their global users.

One-tap payment experience for returning users

Flowbird is now able to offer one-tap payment functionality for returning users. That’s because once a user submits their payment information, Hyperswitch stores the customers’ payment method data and makes it processor agnostic.

While each City Authority uses a different payment processor, Hyperswitch can centrally vault the card and allow seamless recurring payment experience for a customer across multiple cities.

Leverage Hyperswitch open source offering for on-premise and omnichannel use cases

Flowbird required the entire payment stack to be deployed on premise in a controlled and PCI secure environment. Hyperswitch Open source with managed support was a much suited solution for Flowbird’s use case.

Hyperswitch Open Source is designed as a cloud vendor agnostic and easy to deploy solution. The PCI DSS compliance requirements are solved by first principles in the core application and the secure PCI environment configuration is simplified through Infra-as-code automation.

Flowbird was able to connect its inhouse built card acceptance solution (Archipel) with Hyperswitch and make it as the single interface for all of Flowbird’s omni-channel payment use cases.
